Planning a luxury retail centre in New Delhi

DLF’s brief was to plan, configure and lease a development conceived as India’s first luxury retail centre. The work brought the configuration of the retail space into the same discussion as the quality and composition of the tenant mix.

For this development, the choice of retailers and the space offered to them needed to support the same proposition. Our appointment connected those planning decisions with marketing materials for prospective retailers and the leasing of luxury international brands.

A tenant mix built around luxury brands

The retail brief focused on a select group of quality retailers. Reconfiguration and tenant selection formed part of that approach, bringing the physical space and the proposed brand mix together. The intention was to give DLF Emporio a clear luxury offer that could be presented to prospective retailers during the pre-opening leasing stage.

What our work covered

01 Retail space reconfiguration We advised on reconfiguring the retail space as part of the development’s preparation for leasing. The work connected the arrangement of the space with the proposed offer, giving physical planning a direct role in the luxury retail brief.
02 Tenant mix Our retail advisory covered a tenant mix for a select group of quality retailers. This established the intended composition of the offer and supported the project’s focus on international luxury brands.
03 Retailer marketing materials The appointment included marketing materials for prospective retailers. These supported the presentation of the project to the brands being approached, connecting the proposed retail offer with the leasing conversations needed to bring that offer into the centre.
04 Luxury retail leasing Husband Retail acted as sole leasing agent for luxury international brands. This mandate carried the advisory work into leasing, with responsibility for securing brands within that defined part of DLF Emporio’s retail offer.

Reported project outcomes

Project credentials record over 50 international luxury brands and over 130 retailers. Luxury brands secured included Dior, Fendi, Cartier, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Tod’s, Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Hugo Boss. These figures describe the project’s reported retail offer rather than a current tenant count.
